Overview: Discover Cambodia’s re-invented capital, Phnom Penh, home to the National Museum, and sparkling Royal Palace, the bustling Russian Market, and Toul Sleng museum
Phnom Penh, after years of violence and terror, is a city reinventing itself. Many parts of the city are testament to its French colonial past while the recently developed riverfront area is proof of its future. Depart your hotel at 8.00 am and visit the National Museum for an appreciation of the splendour of Khmer history and its amazing collection of Angkorian and pre-Angkorian artifacts. We also spend time at the Silver Pagoda, famous for its 5000 silver tiled floor, set within the grounds of the Royal Palace. In the afternoon, we visit the chilling Tuol Sleng Museum of Genocidal Crimes, testament to the insanity of the Pol Pot era. Your touring will also take in a brief stop at Wat Phnom, after which the city is named and the bustling Russian Market, home to some of the best shopping in Cambodia.
